Andrew

Andrew, how I wish I had known you
How I wish I could travel in time
Back to the old Mississippi
South of the Mason Dixon Line

We could talk of the “Lost Cause” together
We could dream the Confederate dream
We could talk about the war crimes of Sherman
And how hell must be filled with his screams

That is, unless he repented
Of the rapes and the pillaging and death
Of the American war on civilians
As the Constitution breathed it’s last breath

Andrew, you held your head proudly
In the photo that I have of you
Wearing your Confederate medals
With your faithful wife sitting there too

You were my Grandpa’s Grandpa
You were Southern born and bred
A farrier of horses
With a musket filled with lead

Many times I have sat and pondered
What life was like before reconstruction
You see, my world has become like the Yankee lands
Their culture came behind their destruction

So I keep your old photo close to me
Even though we’ve never met
It makes me feel close to the Old South
And one thing still better yet...

I know that I have a heritage
And of this I am very proud
I’ll hold Saint Andrew’s cross up high
And sing our anthem loud

Yes, I sure do wish I could meet you
And perhaps up in heaven I will
We can talk about steamboats and cotton
In your mansion on the hill

We’ll sing “Look away!” We’ll sing “Look away!”
We’ll sing “Look away, Dixie Land!
And remember the time when the cotton fields shined
And the time when a man was a man

A "Non-Conversionary" Celebration?

Recently a young lady that I work with left a magazine lying around the office from John Hagee Ministries. I picked it up and took a peek inside and I found this ad for the following:

Feast of Tabernacles

A Sukkot Celebration

Oct. 8th – 10th 2010

Night To Honor Israel – Sunday October 10, 2010

And what is Hagee’s definition of “A Night To Honor Israel?”

“A Night To Honor Israel” is a non-conversionary tribute to the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people of the world. It’s purpose is to promote esteem and understanding between Christians and Jews and to emphasize that the things we hold in common are greater than the things we have allowed to separate us."

NON-CONVERSIONARY?!?!?!?!?!?!

And what is the ONE thing that we (Christians) do not have in common with the (unsaved, non-Christian) Jews? (I am NOT speaking here of Christian Jews) It is the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST!

So, according to Hagee, the “the things we hold in common” with unsaved Jews are greater than the gospel? This gospel is the greatest message ever delivered! It is the greatest story ever told! It is the only message that will save these people's souls from hell but we are going to "celebrate" our differences which are "greater" than this gospel? And we are going to "celebrate" these differences by NOT giving them the gospel?

I am well aware that Hagee would deny this allegation but isn't that the logical conclusion that we have to come to according to his own statement? In his own Church and in his own preaching I'm certain that he would hold to the fact that no one can be saved outside of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. But how can a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ withhold the gospel from unsaved people on such an occasion? The hypocrisy is only outweighed by the idiocy of such a "celebration." I can assure you that the Apostle Paul nor his contemporaries would have been involved in such a godless festival. They were jailed, flogged and persecuted by these people centuries ago.

I wonder what Hagee and the others involved in this “celebration” would do if Christians showed up and witnessed and passed out tracts and gave these unsaved, deniers of Christ the gospel. Can true Evangelical Christians be "non-conversionary" (Is that even a word?) on ANY occasion?

Truly, these are the cross roads that a born-again Christian finds himself facing when he insists upon holding to a Pre-millennial Dispensational view and the false idea that the modern "Nation of Israel" is equivalent to ancient Israel.

Romans Chapter 9 (NASB)

6But it is not as though the word of God has failed For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

7nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED."

8That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.

Today, it is God's elect from every tongue, tribe and nation that are the True Israel. In fact, it was only God's elect that were the True Israel even during the days of old. Never have the "children of the flesh" ever been the true seed of Abraham.

God's blessings,

Davy Crockett Passes The Hat To Congress

Or "When Men Were Men and Congressmen were Constitutional"

When Davy Crockett was serving as Congressman the plight of a widow was presented to Congress. It was proposed that a bill be passed to help this widow of a naval officer. Davy Crockett objected. It wasn't because he didn't want to help widows. He just understood that it wasn't (isn't) the function of the Federal Government to give special aid to particular individuals. He understood (and held to) the US Constitution.

The Congressman stood and said, "I am the poorest man in this house, I cannot vote for this bill, but I'll donate one week's pay to this widow. If everyone else on the floor will do the same, it will be more than the bill calls for."

After having made this suggestion, Crockett passed his coon skin cap around the room. When the hat returned to him he discovered that only one Congressman had contributed. That lone Congressman was Davy Crockett.

Crockett made the observation that Congressmen are much more eager to spend other people's money than they are their own.

This fact is even more true today. Why don't you and I take the fortitude that Davy Crockett had? Why don't we "pass the hat" back to Congress?
